Festival Dionysia - Meet the Mageia at Vancouver's Most Divine Play Festival

Festival Dionysia 2023

March 8th — 10th, 2023

The 13th edition of Festival Dionysia took place from March 8th to 10th, 2023. The UBC Players Club showcased their exceptional talents by bringing to life six never-before-seen short plays crafted by the rising stars of UBC and Vancouver’s art scene. The festival was held at Pal Studio Theatre since it was not possible to host it at the UBC campus that year. Despite the change in venue, the festival was a huge success, and the organizers were proud to have secured a venue with 150 seats for three nights, with a packed house every night. The audience was transported to a realm of enchantment, uncovering the secrets of an icy world, experiencing the spectacle of Dionysian revelry, and immersing themselves in the glory of theatre. Festival Dionysia 2023 was truly a memorable experience for all those who attended.

Mainstage 2022: The Importance of Being Earnest

November 15th — 19th, 2022

Oscar Wilde’s play, The Importance of Being Earnest, is a timeless comedy that tells the story of two young men who create fictional personas to escape their mundane lives. These alter egos, both named Ernest, lead the men down a path of hilarious misadventures as they try to win the hearts of two women who are infatuated with the name Ernest. With witty dialogue and clever plot twists, the play satirizes the conventions of Victorian society and explores themes of identity, love, and social status. From November 15th to 19th at 7pm, The Importance of Being Earnest was an unforgettable evening of theatre that left the audience laughing out loud. Everyone enjoyed an evening of deception, disguise, and chaos with the unforgettable characters.
