Apply to the UBC Players Club Residency Program

Apply Now for the Residency Program!

Applications are due by Fri, Sep 29.

Are you a theatre artist with a groundbreaking project idea? The UBC Players Club invites you to submit your project proposal for our inaugural Residency Program. This exciting opportunity offers support and funding (up to $1000) to artists looking to create original theatre-related projects. We aim to enrich the theatre community at the University of British Columbia and the greater community by fostering accessibility and inclusivity in theatre.

Why Apply to the Residency Program?

  • Financial Assistance: Access a maximum budget of $1000, with the option to generate revenue (subject to pre-approval) to cover extra costs.
  • Support: Receive assistance with rehearsal space, performance space, publicity, financial support, and help with hiring specific roles.
  • Inclusivity and Diversity: We encourage submissions from traditionally underrepresented communities, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, people with lived experiences of disability, and neurodivergent individuals.
  • Artistic Freedom: We accept a wide range of project types, including live presentations, workshops, artist talks, readings, interactive works, and experimental theatre. This means you have creative freedom to propose a project that aligns with your artistic vision.
  • Community Impact: Serve the UBC and the greater theatre community while upholding our mission and values.
  • Feedback and Growth: Successful applicants will participate in a debrief meeting post-project and reflect and exchange feedback to enhance and refine their future projects.
